Our group has chosen to present our E –LEARNING Tutorial on Dog Care on the Randwick City Council Site. The Council offers a few links on the website relative to domestic animals. Although the articles offer topics of discussion such as dog walking destinations and information on microchipping, the website does not have any information on animal care. Our E-learning Tutorial is designed to teach dog owners firstly how to clean and look after your pet and secondly the importance of animal care, identifying the act of neglect as a form of animal cruelty.

Here is the e mail that we sent to the  Randwick Council, for permission to submit our e-learning tutorial.

Dear Mr Curley and Mr Lowe,

 I am a student of the digital media diploma course at Randwick TAFE and my classmates are looking to develop an E-Learning Tutorial explaining how to care for dogs.

 Whilst the Randwick City Council website currently provides information about registering and exercising dogs there is an opportunity to supplement this with additional information about proper care for dogs.

I am advised that you have spoken to our teacher Mr Huseyin Turem (Head Teacher of Screen, Randwick TAFE) and expressed an interest in this initiative.

Below is some further information about the project

 The tutorial will consist of a short video providing advice about proper care for dogs.

Animal Cruelty refers to the  infliction of suffering or harm to animals as well as the act of neglect. There have been many heated debates around the world over what is considered to be animal cruelty or inhumane. Some discussions include the use of animals for entertainment such as bullfights and dancing bears. Animal cruelty is an alarming problem that is very real in today’s society. Not only is it occurring overseas but in the homes of many citizens. In Australia, Many states have enacted legislation outlawing cruelty to animals.

E Learning is a process in which educational goals and objectives are achieved through the delivery or access to an interactive electronic document and these learning goals are achieved through computer or multimedia based learning. This can be in the form of a multimedia product, the creation of a web site, a PDF document/publication or a video learning product. Online E- Learning also allows users to provide feedback on how effective and efficient the process is.
